Keurig founders John Sylvan and Peter Dragone had been college roommates at Colby College in Maine in the late 1970s. In the early 1990s Sylvan, a tinkerer, had quit his tech job in Massachusetts, and wanted to solve the commonplace problem of office coffee – a full pot of brewed coffee which sits and grows bitter, dense, and stale – by creating a single-serving pod of coffee grounds and a machine that would brew it. Living in Greater Boston, he went through extensive trial and error trying to create a pod and a brewing machine. By 1992, to help create a business plan, he brought in Dragone, then working as director of finance for Chiquita, as a partner. They founded the company in 1992, calling it Keurig; Sylvan later said that the name came from his having "looked up the word excellence in Dutch".

I'll be honest, I dislike those coffee pods. You can't beat a cafetiere or a barista machine.

Disgusting. I've used these and they make the worst cup of coffee imaginable. Just get a fucking french press or aeropress for 20 bucks. Can't believe how many people fall for the keurigjew for their home.

There are your options for pour over - press - automated. I work in a coffee lab and use coffee refractometers every day and I can tell you that these consistently get the best results with the least variance. Make sure to get a decent grinder too or it will never come out right.

Nah those are the GOAT, you can use them in so many weird ways to get amazing coffee. You can get a perfect extraction from them too.

>> No.11369583

I'm using a french press too from time to time but I really don't like the really fine powder that is always at the bottom of the cup.
The last sips are mediocre since the meshfilter cant hold back the really fine stuff..

Can you get an aeropress which serves 2 cups? We have one, but I usually need to make coffee for 2 people..

How about just pouring hot water onto the coffee? Works for me.

They don't have one, the amount of arm strength to get the same pressure on one that big is too much so the size is what it is because of that.

French press comes in that size but the cup isn't as good. I use a 8 cup chemex when I make morning coffee for my GF and I. Takes about 5 minutes with the grinding and pouring.
