N-no homo edition

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

As long as TSLA goes down, I remain happy either way.

I will say an orderly decline is probably the best thing for the tech stocks. A crash would shed a lot more off the stock price. At least this way, everyone can forgot about it in a few weeks and the ramp can begin anew. February repeats.

I think there is still a good possibility for it but I always wait and wake up early premarket to check if it's mooning or getting ready to moon or not.

>Also, what the fucks going on with IGC
It's scam being pumped and dumped. I remember seeing something similar happen with a totally different company (can't think of the name right now) but it also had zero going for it and people knew it but were all participating in a pump and dump anyway. I know we are taught that the market is filled with rational consumers but it isn't.

>Literally the only place to shop. I make fun of my friends who’s bosses make the shop at Lowe’s.
seriously fucking hate Lowe's with a passion. They are good for decorative shit that's about it. Their products suck.. their customer service sucks.. their layout sucks.. everything about Lowes fucking sucks. If someone says they are in construction and you ask if they prefer lowes or home depot and they say lowes you know they are fucking amateurs that can't even swing a fucking hammer.

Home depot or supply houses other than that.. kick rocks.

I remember talking to my recruiter there about a week or two ago and he was pretty hyped about the ticker hitting 2k.
It was giving me some Enron vibes from that stock ticker obsession.
If I get an offer out of them, I am definitely negotiating for more cash and less stock. They like to load employees up with vesting stock plans.

Surprised you sold AMD and didn't double down. That's all I'm doing -- selling off what's flat for leveraged shit.
One of my favorite long term strategies that I've come up with is just going all in on SPY and just flipping it for SPXL on red days / dips, then switching back to SPY at the end of the recovery

It's a pretty lulzy policy considering, I could claim literally anything made me feel discriminated against and they have to treat it seriously. The actual people working there are pretty right-of-center though and I often hear open pro-Trump conversations around the office. The people I work with are typical Trump conservatives. Hi guys, I've just started dabbling in international stock markets (im in Aus) and I understand the idea of foreign exchange rates but for some reason my brain refuses to make it "clear" and i was hoping someone could explain it simply for me so that embeds a bit better.

So if the Australian dollar is higher, I have more buying power and therefore its better to buy stocks at that time. But when the Australian dollar is lower, it's better to sell because... I'm not sure why. I understand the math and the calculations, and I know it's right, but for some reason I'm just at this horrible mental block of not being able to put into words *why* that's the case.

I just know it'll be fucking obvious but I was hoping a word person could say the words at me that would make it mentally click for me.

Thanks friends and im not retarded i swear

I've only ever really worked in the NYC area so I really don't know personally what West Coast Silicon Valley type culture is like beyond memes. As far as companies I've worked for over here, it's pretty laid back. Dress is typical business casual except for fridays when you can wear t-shirts and jeans, but even that is loose. Some lady was wearing literal sweatpants at work today lmao. As long as you get your shit done reasonably, nobody is really on your ass about what or how you do it. They promote from within too, which is obviously nice. At my office (and most of them I believe) they do free breakfast/lunch from the cafeteria which is nice. And yeah the terminals are really fucking cool, it's basically all everyone uses too. I'm not here long term either, I think it definitely will be a good resume booster. Tbh... i think if you are really looking for long term your best bet would be to dollar cost average them for over a year with only about 10% of your portfolio. Put the rest into some higher risk plays (smaller market caps) Both have a pretty big market cap and will need big news to turn around.. they are huge companies.. huge companies in a downtrend are for bears until a new trend is confirmed. If you are looking to trade it for short term gains you can always do a small % in options while keeping your long term holdings that you add to. I know the dividends look attractive but they've always looked attractive for those two.. don't get fooled. Do I think they are good retirement stocks? yes. Do i think you will be happy with your return in the next 6months-1year.. hard to tell...

if you don't know how market cap works in relation to volume and % change you should look into that.. they're big boats to turn around

Imagine you buy a US stock worth 100 dollars; or 71 Australian dollars. If the ratio between the worth of US dollars and Australian dollars goes up in favor of US dollars you have made money, even if the stock has not moved.

If you in invest in another nation, and its currency outperforms your own, you gain money when selling the its stocks. Honestly just go study FOREX for a few hours if this is not clear enough.
