Late night pick-me-up edition.

>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

>any /smg/ wagies who do monthly investing? how much of your salary do you invest every month
My bank lets me open as many sub-accounts as I want, so I have one labelled "Investing". Each week after getting paid, before I spent a dime, I deposit ~$80 into the account. At the end of the month I look at my portfolio, note the percentages and where each stock is at and decide where to spend the money. If I work overtime, I generally spend all that on investing.

I try not to look at the stocks before this point, because the constant up-and-down stresses you out if you're a long-term investor, but it's tough.

The suggested amount any advisor will tell you is 5-15% invested from every paycheck. Actually doing so will put you ahead of 80% of your peers regardless of how much more/less they make than you assuming thats at least over 100 bucks. Personally, I would suggest you aim for 20%. If your single its easy. For you I would just suggest have an automatic draw for what you can manage and deposit extra when you. Aim for an average of 100 at least.

This is where overtime and budgeting come in handy. I typically hit $320, but then I'll look at what bills are coming up and where I have spare money. If I can scrape together that extra 50-80 bucks, I do.

I'm also not single, btw. I'm engaged, though have 0 debt aside from my mattress (long story). Thankfully I handle 90% of the finances and my fiances uses her tips as spending money.

Sous Chef here.

I make 15/hr and usually end up with my OT in cash. I spent the last 3-4 years dicking around and stacking my check then pissing away my OT gambling (We get paid weekly, not bi-weekly so it's easier to cover bills/rent/etc.. and still throw a good chunk of your check away). So after getting sick of losing my money rapidly, I decided to try my hand at losing my money slowly and made a really small personal portfolio. Im pretty low cost to operate so I'd say it's about 25-30% of my pay goes to investing, but Im still very new to this and i've only been playing small.

I used to pride myself on iron handed hodling but eventually I realized the reason i was finding myself in that scenario so often was too early entry. At the time I was using MACD a lot and, because MACD is a lagging indicator, i was trying to front run it to make up the difference. This turned out to be a bad idea as MACD has a tendency to reverse course right when it's about to make a bullish or bearish cross. Caught a lot of knives this way.

Now deemphasizing MACD in my TA and bagholding less often.

to be fair auto companies like the big 3 can just switch out two machines on their assembly line and make electronic cars for a better profit than tesla can

they just need battery tech to advance somehow, or change the material they use, to make it economical to the customer

Tesla is great at building voter support for EV's, but their logistics are fucked, and their distribution network, not to mention distribution abilities, are baby tier compared to major auto companies

and TSLA stock is based on belief tusk will invent some new and revolutionary meme, not the company that issues the stock

Well things have changed
Nuclear power plants are already boomer garbage shit

GE isn't doing anything innovative anymore as the lesser races learned the know-how on these.

How would I evaluate companies like GE ? I would look at the chinks and see if they can make something on their own. If the answer is yes, GE is fucked.

That's not how globalism works though, it's just corporations coming in and destroying culture and replacing it with blatant consumerism under the oligarch of a few stupidly large companies that do absurd shit like GE. I think GE has a lot on their plate they need to fix and they probably won't go up in value for a long time but they aren't playing in the same sand box as JCP and Sears.

Yeah I'm looking for alil more stability.
https://www.investopedia.com/investing/monthly-dividend-stocks/
>Pembina Pipeline Corporation ( PBA )
Looking here the dividends is $1.75 with shares at $35. And they pay dividends monthly and I can compound that basically.
If I invest $500 I can get about 142 shares.
My monthly dividends will be 142 x 1.75 meaning $247 monthly. And i calculating this right?
Cause that's far better then any interest I can earn at the bank

i'm pretty sure the dividend yield is 5.05% per year, divided buy 12, for a monthly payment.

500 dollars at $35 yields 14 shares. that's around 18 cents a share. did you not take math?

You hate the guy that is better than you.. always... its in your natural instinct. You are a "hater" meaning you hate everything that is better than you. You rather sit there, cry and try to make fun of someone that is better than you rather than getting out and being better than them. You are a "hater" there's not much help for your type.. your type usually ends up 40-50 years old realizing this flaw in your personality at the point its too late.. then you try to make up for all your lost years and start becoming more "accepting" of things to the point where you are a complete fucking weirdo and a loser that reeks of desperation and lack of social skills due to being a hater their whole life.

I'm a PC tech enthusiast so I know a thing or two. Server adoption is slow because companies only upgrade now and again but Intel is in a bind since they've failed to release a new architecture in 8+ years. Its actually been in 4 years of delays and now they've dropped it. They literally have no competition lined up for amd.

Bitch please, I am talking business here and you are talking sociological garbage. I'm about to go to China again for work and yeah there are people trying to copy shit all the time but they never fucking make it because they are too stupid to fucking get it in the first place to make whatever they are doing safe, reliable, and dependable which is a cornerstone for any production manager. Regardless of race, corporations mostly hold the rights and patents for technologies and they even have personhood to represent them in court to step all over people from any country. Yeah I actually was looking into that aswell. Looks like a good plan if I'm dumping more money in monthly.
How silly is it to effectively be dumping my life savings in a dividend aristocracy. I mean most of them are almost guaranteed not to drop out and if things start trending downwards I'm sure cutting my loses will be funded with the dividends I have accrued

Ugh, it took several years for prices to go back to where they were even profitable for people who bought in 2008. Please don't make an argument for buying at highs and then holding until it's profitable, despite that happening a lot here, that isn't how you make money.
