you can't prevent institutions from buying and selling an asset, especially with bitcoin getting as big as it is now. but that doesn't mean that institutions are not affected by supply and demand.

people that say that futures "tamed" bitcoin and that somehow wall street will be able to manipulate bitcoin in any long term sense are wrong. you need to get that quote of "taming bitcoin" that the cftc guy said out of your head, it's paranoia.

every commodity that futures have been put on, yes, it cooled down the market (which were already due for a cooldown by the time futures were put on them) in the next year or two, but long term futures have no effect on a commodity or currency's price.

wall street can't kike bitcoin the way they can kike other things due to bitcoin's very nature.
