There's no reason to make it law. Leave it up to each individual business. If you don't want to go to a place that allows smoking, you're not forced too. I prefer to eat in a non-smoking environment, so I would choose restaurants that don't allow smoking over ones that do.

Speaking of airplanes, my dad recalled flying on planes when young and you'd have smoke floating all over the place.

His dad who flew and fought in WWII, Korea and Vietnam smoked and drank heavily. Ended up slowly dying of lung cancer at about 75.

My mom's mom ended up eating from non-smoker's lung cancer closer around 87.

I don't like cigarettes, but don't want to deny them to people who do. I vape weed and occasionally smoke it. My personal rule is to keep it away from those who do not want to be exposed.
