If you accuse someone of something, you usually are expected to provide evidence supporting your accusation. Baseless accusations can be damaging in lots of ways and if society accepted them as Bible truth, our whole society would fall apart due to bad actors accusing innocent people of things for their own benefit.

I understand that sexual assault is a much more sensitive matter than most, and I understand that there are reasons why people don't come forward with rape/sexual assault accusations. However, it seems like we're starting to shift to a "believe the accuser, no matter the evidence" standard with sexual assault cases. I see a lot of women posting on social media about how they "believe Dr. Ford" and I'm sympathetic to that because they see themselves as standing against men/women who refuse to believe accusers. It doesn't sit well with me, though, to believe someone who doesn't provide evidence, who may or may not remember correctly, who makes a claim decades later, etc. etc. just because we want to create a better circumstance for sexual assault victims. If we automatically believe every woman who accuses a man of rape/sexual assault, without the need for proof or back story or circumstance, etc., it's going to unravel the burden of proof and allow bad actors to get away with ruining innocent peoples' lives.
