Ok, I'm tired of all the memes and technical jargon. I'm a semi-brainlet with money and I'm willing to invest in LINK if someone can explain what the hell it actually is and whether or not it has a real future among other cryptos. I've made most of my money off XLM and XRP just by being a coat tail riding trend chaser.

So cough it up /biz/, what is LINK and why should I buy it?

LINK is the codename for this guy named Jason Parser. Sergey hired him for $32 million dollars to solve the oracle problem.

High value smart contracts (e.g. derivatives) need real world data from off-chain in order to execute. You need software called an oracle to fetch said data, parse it, and feed it to contracts of the blockchain. All oracles now are centralized, thereby negating all the advantages that come a decentralized blockchain. Chainlink is the only decentralized oracle project.

The LINK token itself is an ERC20 utility token. Nodes on this decentralized oracle network will be rewarded with it for serving up data to contracts on chain. It will also be staked in nodes for use as collateral/penalty in the case that it feeds a contract bad data.

It's a scam and will be worth somewhere between dog shit and a pile of garbage one day. Stay away. Xrp, trx and the others are a much better choice.

Probably the most overlooked breadcrumb is that Lawyers are working on making smart contracts legally binding. In order to due so they are showing the legitimacy of decentralized oracles. Imagine, if smartscontract are to be legally binding if the input data came from decentralized oracles. If this happens Chainlink will be attached to every smartcontract powering the smartcontract economy.

You're a lazy brainlet, too.
Learn what a smart contract is.
Learn how trustless systems work.
Learn how to get data from trusted sources into trustless systems while maintaining trust.
(Hint: you can't)
Learn what coding is.
Learn what middleware is and what it's currently used for.
Learn what ChainLink is.
Invest in ChainLink.
It's now $350 because you're retarded (see no. 1 above) and took too long.

The derivatives market is just a portion of what chai link is set out to do.

Can you name one currently used middleware solution?

Hint: they're everywhere.
