Is betting on increased lithium demand from electric cars and other electronics a good move?

>> No.1117752

no because everyone else has already been doing this since the advent of lithium polymer/ion battery tech. this is like asking 'is betting on increased wood demand from a growing population's housing requirements a good move?'

it's been priced into the markets for a long, long time.

no, especially when big oil finally kills Tesla and has Elon locked in prison for something

Lithium? I prefer Ethereum.

FMC has a decent size lithium division.

They'll probably have someone plant a bomb in one of spacex's rockets and have Elon charged with intention of using of WMD's

I was going to say buy lithereum but you did it better

Now memes aside, Chile has the best lithium reserves in the world, Bolivia can't exploit theirs , idk why, Chilean lithium got privatized by the Spaniards, I wouldn't really expect amazing returns from investing in lithium though

>> No.1118021

No because they are moving away from lithium batteries and making a lot of progress with new battery technology, which doesn't use lithium.

It is, there is a supply shortage, your best bets are ALB the biggest lithium distributor, (Tianqi and Ganfeng are offlimits for non chinese citizens - would have made 120% if I could invest in those last year) - ALB made me 40%.

Juniors entering the market are ORE and GXY, with ORE it is maybe already too late, since everything is already priced in. GXY is not as ripe as when I bought it, it made me 60% since january, but still a good upside, since it's DCF is at 22cents, so with 18cents currently it is undervalued. They are the first junior producer going online in 2016, in extreme lithium shortage (ALB, SQM, FMC, Tianqi, Ganfeng do not have enough lithium for the global demand) and the highest historical price of LCE ever. GXY already has a working lithium mine and is going into commision april 2016, with mitsubishi having a MOU for offtake at marketprice.

2016 will make it a meme stock, 2015 was the best year to invest in, however you still have a couple of months to get some good gains out of it.

Biggest reserves currently; western Australia - (Tallison, Mt Cattlin, Pilbara, Marion), Chile-Bolivia-Argentina Triangle (Salar Negra, Sal de Vida, Antofagasta etc.)

These are the main suppliers of global lithium, most is bought by China.

Not right now. Right now, I'd invest in good old-fashioned industries like lead and brass and depleted uranium, because the world's biggest untapped reserves of lithium are in Afghanistan.

>because the world's biggest untapped reserves of lithium are in Afghanistan.
it is not a rare metal, you can find it in a lot of places, having a production is what is problematic. a lot of juniors are struggling: western lithium, nemaska, bacanora, pure energy, rare earth minerals, all virtuals with great 'prospects' but no plants and no funding.
