Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

friendly reminder that at this point, TLRY and NFLX have roughly the same risk reward ratio with NFLX appearing to have a 420 potential from 370 based on Elliott Meme Waves and Fibs I looked at. Tilray having roughly a 220 potential from 175.

Just so you don't feel you MUST FOMO in to Tilray. Although you have more profit potential in Tilray admittedly.

Oh, one more important thing about limit orders: It has to do with the order in which everyone entered their limit order for a given price. There are almost almost more than one order at a bid level. These orders will fill on a first come first served basis. This is why you will fairly often see a set of buys go through at your limit price, the share price goes up, but your own order never went through. You can skip the line by setting your order at the ask price or just doing a market order.

Thanks for the help man, really appreciate it. I probably would just do market orders but my broker doesnt just let me set how much I maximally want to spend on a market order, so you cant totally predict what the cost will be. Its probably easiest and quickest, then, to just buy a limit order at the current ask price, and sell a limit order at the current bid price. Which is essentially the same as a market order, but at least you know the maximum you're paying

>Which is essentially the same as a market order, but at least you know the maximum you're paying

This is if you order to get in/out right away, yes. The issue with market orders is price slippage. A market order can of course be higher/lower than you anticipated (the bid/ask constantly changes) but it can also fill in several chunks of shares, some of which can buy/sell at different prices as the bid/ask moves. For example, let's say you want to 1000 shares of a stock with a current price of 5.00 and you market order it. That order can show up in your account like this:

>200 shares at 5.00
>200 shares at 5.04
>400 shares at 5.10
>200 shares at 5.12

Limit order ensures that does not happen, although if the price is dropping when it can happen in a beneficial way as your order fills at increasingly advantageous costs to you.

I strongly recommend you Investopedia the difference between limit orders, stop orders, and stop limit orders. Stops are a key piece of the puzzle.

You can do this if you like with a stop-limit order. A stop means your order becomes a market order if, and only if, the share price hits your stop price. A stop-limit means your order is a live market order up until the price reaches your limit price, at which point it will cease to fill. Investopedia for more information. Also recommend youtube tutorial on stop orders and stop-limit orders.

Actual, principled conservative here. I've supported Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy in 2015, and I was beyond impressed with his decision to nominate Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. With that said, I take all matters relevant to sexual assault very seriously. I have a daughter, and I believe it is our duty -- no, our universal moral imperative -- to hear out all women who have allegedly been sexually assaulted -- including Kavanaugh's accuser, Christine B. Ford -- loudly, clearly, and as transparently as possible. We must also allow the Senate to conduct a thorough investigations of what are seemingly credible allegations of sexual assault. Remoteness shouldn't play much of a part in our considerations. Let me remind you that this isn't a partisan issue. Sexual assault harms everyone. Given my strong principles, I can even come to acknowledge the reasonableness with which Senators Kamala Harris and Chuck Schumer speak. Thus, I support a delay in the Senate's vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Once he is cleared, I think the Senate should confirm him. And that's coming from an actual, principled conservative.

Stay debt free. This is important.
Go to your local juden bank. Open a TFSA investor account. Specifically mention it is for investing. Talk to a reputable tax advisor on any taxes that may come up, because there's always some stupid shit going on with Canadian taxes, like being taxed 1% if you over contribute. Contribute the maximum 57.5k, keep the rest cash in debit as backup. Take 89% of that cash and convert to USD when the CAD is strong. You will have to identify the season and month when the USD is low and the CAD is up, because it fluctuates. Start investing in US stocks. With 10% that is CAD, invest in the Canadian market. As for the remaining 1%, use it to indulge your inner gambler/speculator, because once you enter the markets you will fucking feel like gambling on a day trade, options or some shit OTC stock. Do not gamble more than 1%, it isn't kosher.
Remember. Stay debt free. Bad goys stay debt free.

Trudeau views the country as a post-modern nation the way a hack of an artist views his post-modern artwork: free money for socio-political statements. Don't forget Trudeau is the man who fucked up with China because Xi Jinping wouldn't include feminism in the deal. He's also known as Little Potato over there. That should tell you everything.

Aurora Cannabis' venture capital spin-off devoted to US based companies, Australis Capital Inc., commences trading on the CSE this morning. I am less enthusiastic about Australis than I am about Canopy Rivers but this certainly could fly tomorrow. I may trade it with a small position depending how level two looks and what sort of volume shows up. Strongly recommend, if you are interested in Canopy Rivers on Thursday, to take a close look at how this trades today even if you have no position. It could be a sneak peak at the way RIV will trade.
