Honestly OP, there is no trick. There is special way out of the trap you're in. The only thing stopping you, is you. Stop being a whinning little bitch and face your problems head on. Just don't pick up the bottle. It's really that simple

Addicts seem to think that their addiction is out of their control (I've been there). As if some force is stopping them from breaking free. You need to realize that your life is completely in your control. Just stop.

You also need to identify why you want to drink in the first place. Do you hate your job? Find something better. Go to school. Regardless of your past mistakes, you can still change your life if you still crying , put your head down, and grind through it. Accept that at this point nothing from before matters, and all you can do at this point is to move in the right direction, and that's all you can do. And you're the only one that can make that change. Just do it.

Just be unemployed. Then you can have the energy to exert all your will on not drinking. I can't imagine trying to do that on top of 40 hours.

>> No.11069215

>>11069136
The shitty, sad thing about being an addict is that many people do have the willpower to stop using a substance long enough to withdraw from it. They might even have the power to fight through the withdrawals, and come out detoxed and sober.

Not every addict, much less "normal" person, has the willpower to face the fact that they aren't going to magically start feeling good sober. Most people have horrible mood swings and sleep problems for months or years after coming off alcohol, not to mention the cravings.

And then, even if you can fight through all that, and assuming you undo 100% of the damage it did to your brain and body through abstaining, there's still the realization that even "normal" people can get depressed, even without using drugs or alcohol. That life is largely banal, tedious, and boring. And then you die at the end, anyway. So knowing this fact, even fewer people can find the will to stay sober.

The trick is acknowledging that you'll never feel better than you do after your 2nd beer, and you should just stop there. But once you're already an addict, that becomes nearly impossible.

>>11068678
You just need to force yourself to have that willpower. My last day of every work week is Saturday night and I always did the same thing as you - vow to not drink after work, go out and booze until 4am anyway, waste every Sunday hungover. Recently I've made it a point to smack myself and just go to bed as soon as I get home. The past few weeks I'm now able to get up earl Sunday, work out, then hang out and grill, go do some activities. Just knowing you beat your own shitty mindset is almost just as good as how you feel physically

This may sound retarded but when I feel like having a beer/drink after work I drink a glass of water instead. That way it takes thirst out of the equation and Im more likely not to want that beer.

these. what jobs do you guys have? I'm in the tech industry and I swear so many programmers have a drinking problem. This job seriously drains the life from you eventually. we had an end of financial year party a few months ago and it was pretty obvious how many people couldn't control their drinking. there was a bottle of bourbon left on a cabinet and it eventually was drank during the week by someone (or some people)

some dude had vape juice that was weed
it wasn't hash oil but it was a literal vape juice (first time I've seen something like this sense I havent smoked ganja in like 3 years) and he passed me his vape on the way to lunch and said "try this really good juice I got" with a shit eating grin on his face
I start vaping on it like a normal vape until he starts laughing hysterically
and within 5 minutes im the highest ive ever been in a long ass time
I start having a mental breakdown at a chinese resteraunt because my big reason for not smoking weed is that my panic attacks get insane
once I get back to work I feel a little better still unhinged but better

Drink yourself to death every night and make yourself feel like shit. It will get old.

Honestly though, the best way to stop is just don't go to the store. Smoke lots of weed instead.
