There two migration tasks on the pivotal tracker. Why would they have a need to migrate information if no one is currently using it. Do they have current data being used, and are working on migrating it to main net?

migrating in software usually means updating to a new version of a dependency, which sometimes requires adjusting how the software interacts with the dependency/library/etc

are you fudding?
there was a screenshot going around in the past few days. a user asked thomas about that. he said migration is about securing the database of each node, so you dont have to do it manually when there is an update. sth like this i'm a brainlet. i bet someone else has the screenshot

>> No.11063067

This was clarified by Thomas. It's creating a migration script to allow nodes to update themselves when new data points are introduced to the system that weren't in previous releases.

it probably means nothing

migrations do mean also migrating data between databases/technologies/etc (usually in systems that are live, transitioning to new versions of that software, for example a bank would need to migrate data from its 20 yo cobol mainframe to something new) but the chainlink mainnet isn't online, and the testnet data isn't worth anything
so I don't think OP is correct in his assumption

Migrations in software are just ordinary development tasks. As ordinary as adding a feature or fixing a bug.
