There seems to be some confusion regarding normies and NPCs. Normies are NPCs. Like normies an NPC runs on a script. They cannot deviate from what their script says they are allowed to do. They are easily influenced people who will do whatever the media and social pressure tells them. They are highly susceptible to caring about peer evaluation, appearing cool, materialism, and the newest trends. They are the most unoriginal people and typically low iq and unfunny due to the fact they use blending in as a sheep as a cope. It's why they engage in mundane nonsense conversations because they have nothing of value to talk about other than what their script writers have made for them. I hope this clears up the issue.

Oh wow that's why we don't talk to them. We're player one. And just like in games you ignore most of the npc's after a while.

In a sense this is true. NPCs are cookie cutters and possess no unique personality. You almost always know their opinions on anything. They like the most trendy everything, newest shows, newest music, celebrity worship, watch movies cause hot girls. They all love chipotle and cant stop talking about how they love eating like shit and being lazy and watching netflix.

Since they only simulate intelligent reactions, but are no more concious than an animal, is it ethical to cull them?

More like lonely androids who misidentify social conditioning for a lack of cognizance. Conflating normality with some psuedo-philosophical vidya game parallel.

Quiet, you.
We were clearly told not to talk about phase two.
