there's a stinky at openlaw.
Currently chainlink has only fully trusted nodes and it's doubtful it's ever going to change.
No linky has ever explained what makes tokens valuable. They made a nice api but it's open source.

>More decentralization is the argument
I asked what makes tokens valuable. It looks like the tokens are completely useless and there's no logical place to put them it. How is that an answer?
The problems with working 'decentralized' solution are separate. I looked at what link actually does and the current path leads to a marketplace of centralized nodes that follow the link protocol, rather than a decentralized network.

At best I can see REQ-style token burning per each request... with the exact same problem, ie. burn rate enough for thousand of years.

that's it. tokens for services rendered. as network adoption increases the value of a token will have to increase to meet the present demand, and the fewer nodes there are the more they can charge for their services. this is not that hard.

I think Chainlink is a good project with a lot of potential, so I don't necessarily agree with your post, but specifically, I want to talk about "decentralization." It's a bit of a buzzword on here. Retards around here just throw around that word as if it instantly means something is going to moon, or that the attribute of centralization means that a project will die (Ripple.) I just find that ridiculous. Basically everything you love and enjoy is centralized to some extent.

The token incentivizes the nodes that aren't otherwise trusted. Penalty payments for not doing the job and payments for doing the job. Instructions for doing the job can also be written and passed on in the token. For the instructions function the token needs not to be valuable, but for the payment part it has to have value. The value of the token is relative to the value of the transactions made in the network

except the team confirmed link is not needed for nodes.
If I was running a node I would certainly prefer to be paid in ether, or even USDT or GUSD, not link with its illiquid market. It's very hard to prevent that - and according to the screenshot, they're not even going to try.
Remember than penalties and all that are smart contracts. It's trivial to make a slightly changed contract that doesn't use link

Yes it is not needed, but if your contract is of value you might want to have the nodes involved incentivized. Most of the people using the network will probably prefer their native currencies, or their cryptocurrency of choice, and this will be a possibility. But I think it's most efficient to use a single native currency inside the network, that is the link token

>> No.11040642

>>11040318
>hurrr what gib value?
Same thing that gives everything value: supply and demand.

The token is unique and intrinsic to the network, and thus reflects the merits of the network. It functionally allows for things like penalty payments and contract staking, plus some more technicalities that are explained in the white paper.

>hurrr only thing that gib value is burn
Burning tokens is a completely artificial way to reduce supply, and thus borderline - if not outright - scammy.
