The issue with Tinder is far bigger, I actually have a friend working there and they are in full on crisis mode due to users flocking away. It has to do with changing demographics and the Tinder recommendation algorithm, I could go into more detail if people are actually interested.

2 competing factors here, a large part of the Tinder algorithm is based on FB profiles. Because the stupid 29 year old boomers who run the software actually think people still fill out shit like 'interests' and 'movies' and shit on their facebook, whats happening is as the core userbase gets younger they are less engaged in facebook so tinder thinks theyre junk accounts/bots for not being 'engaged' enough on facebook and stops matching them. This happens on both m/f accounts, so while making your fb look like sociopathically 'active' will help you show up in more feeds, it still means lots of girls aren't being matched to you. This is being compounded yearly because people use FB less and less. There's a lot of pressure right now for an employer to find an alternative system, but there isn't because while instagram is used more frequently, its far harder to develop a formula for comparing two peoples instagrams and determining 'compatibility'.

The other far bigger issue is one a lot of major firms in Silicon Valley are discovering now, in particular Netflix, which is that AI-enhanced 'machine learning' based recommendation/matching algorithms in the long run tend to compartmentalise people to maximise 'point scoring' since the AI just wants to increase incentives, it will inevitably just optimise recommending one thing.

Im not a CS fag but the way my friend explained it, basically if you love one woody allen film, hate a wes anderson film, and then simply 'like' a scifi show on Netflix then at some point the Netflix AI will just decide that the 'optimum' strategy is to recommend you Sci Fi forever. No matter how they tweak the formula this keeps popping up.

On tinder you have a similar thing with 'tinderscores' and you end up in ELO hell, if you dont talk a lot with one girl, suddenly its always pairing you with girls who never talk a lot. Etc. There's even more to it, but I don't want to rant.

what you need to do in order to not end up in ELO hell is essentially make a fake FB profile and connect it to your tinder profile. It resets your ELO score. Obviously change your photo to something of yourself. But once you link a brand new fb account to a new tinder profile, you will get a TON of more matches. The algo is fucked behind tinder unfortunately.

This has not been borne out in practice. As data sets become sufficiently large algorithms 'learn' ways to game the system and optimise for efficiency because of the fact that 'win conditions' are arbitrary, you see a 'learning' algorithm isn't actually learning, its evolving, ineffective strategies get outcompeted, like in nature. The problem is the developer at some point establishes the reward parameters and these are totally arbitrary, so imagine we say to the AI 'if someone spend 2 hours watching two shows that they kind of like, thats better than 1 hour watching a show they love, then 15 minutes watching a show they hate that makes them quit', so then the AI will literally just continuously optimise until it has found the 'safest strategy' not the 'best strategy' and often time these strategies are unpredictable. Like on Netflix for some reason the algorithm will basically always default to SciFi when it can't find a sufficiently good recommendation. But this isn't because everyone loves wifi.

So now the same with Tinder matches, it would rather 10 matches with 11 messages per match, but in every case the chats just end up dying, then have 4 matches with hundreds of messages over several weeks, and 6 matches that are completely incompatible.

The AI after all doesn't know whether you actually end up fugging or not, so its optimising to maximise AVERAGE message count. There are online strategies about how to trick the AI into thinking youre the perfect match, like how Youtube promoted Pewdiepie in his early days, but ultimately it's pointless if roasties who cba learning what an algorithm is are fleeing the app en masse because every match they have is essentially to the same guy who has the same convo. If the 4chan theory that it's because 2 chads are banging all the ladies was true then the number of female members wouldn't be crashing, which it is, because women are even more frustrated with Tinder atm. It's a death spiral.

yeah. im an 7-8/10 in terms of looks and modestly social when it comes to getting along with others, with women etc and not an autist and after a while i stop getting matches. about like 1-3 weeks after i make a new profile. what i do is try to get as many matches as i can and land numbers. then restart and recreate a new profile. its a timely process but the past few months ive been able to get about 8-10 numbers a month. in the beginning i would get like 5 matches in one month and like 1 number if i was lucky. kek.
