Okay guys this is getting ridiculous, the dotcom bubble crash isn't even more than some random fluctuation on this chart anymore, it just hit $1trillion marketcap, if you had invested your money in this back in January you would have made 60% by now, this is just crazy for stocks.

How long is this bubble going to continue? What would be a reliable signal for shorting this?

>The trillion-dollar "mostly empty box"
>Earlier in the week, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) grabbed headlines again. That's as it temporarily passed the magic market capitalisation figure of US$1 trillion - the second company to do so.

>It has since dropped back a little, to "just" US$979 billion. But I have no doubt that the stock is trading at a bubble valuation. What other word adequately describes a stock with a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 156, and a ratio of price to free cash flow (P/FCF) that's well above 200 (properly calculated)?

>Investors will need some seriously heroic growth, over multiple decades, for that to make sense. Since overpaying for such ebullient growth prospects is a classic way to lose money, disappointment is highly likely… eventually.

>Just like much of the cardboard packaging used by the companies when it makes deliveries, investors will eventually realise that Amazon stock is a mostly empty box. Buyer beware.

yeah, normally I'd factor that in, but "FUCK DRUMPHF" is the guiding ethos in D.C. right now so I left it out of the equation.

Even though I loathe Bezos I support the bill on it's own general merit. I don't want to subsidize the gibs of employees of Amazon, walmart, etc. because the fuckers are too cheap to pay them enough so they go on food stamps and such

I tried to find out which committee this is going to but it looks like its too early. Once we know which committee we will know who is on the committee we can gauge it's odds better.

And sure, they will grow, but literally every purchase for literally the entire planet? The only reason amazon has not met good enough competition is because they have a good ability to renew themselves faster than the competition.
When Apple launched the iPod and the Iphone, they dominated. they were renewing themselves faster than anyone and no one were close. but now the innovations in the smartphoone market have stagnated.
Same thing will happen with amazon, they are kicking ass now, but you can only innovate e-commerce so much. I mean, e-trading for groceries is a thing in Europe, and has been for a while.

Being at the forefront of innovating a market is good and beneficial, but as soon as the innovations stop, competitors will copy it.

yeah get rich idc, but trying to pin down the market share for e commerce for the entire globe is so hard that not the most quantitative analyst would even dream of it.

going to the extremes because you cant see why they cant dominate 100%, isnt exactly a 'fundamental'.
