other than maybe keys, where youre playing decent chunks of almost every chord, id say you actually have to know a LOT more about chords in order to be a really good bass player. if youre only walking chromatically from root to root, youll always be mediocre imo. id ALWAYS hit at least 5ths 3rds and 7ths too, and imo playing bass forces you to understand substitution/extensions in a much more subtle way than keys, as you have to outline it one note at a time.

i learned chord theory on guitar, but i didnt understand it at all till i played bass

Also, effective trading significantly decreases your risk and the length of time you have to spend bag holding should the market go sour. Keeping up with market or even beating it while running lower risk and a more liquid portfolio is a huge advantage to strive for.
