The verification for funds being available happened clientside in JavaScript
You could also just spam the withdrawal button on a smaller amount and get double withdrawals that did not deduct from your balance.

I was there and saw the dev team from the sideline after leaving bitgrail weeks before. They couldn't care less about the Bitgrail victims. Not once did they say they were sorry.
