OK KIDS HERE'S THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO RECOVER YOUR KEYS FROM METAMASK IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T BACKED UP THE KEYS AND SOMEHOW FUCKED WITH METAMASK TOO MUCH BEYOND REPAIR & REMEMBER THE PASSWORD:
In case you cant recover it with a google solution and you made it strictly locally, accidentaly deleted sys32 or got a corrupted Metamask, windows broke down or something else where you have no key.
1. Immediately make a backup of C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome if u can acess filesys
2. make a backup of that backup and copy it to external USB and name it "original - do not touch"
3. go to \Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\nkbihfbeogaeaoehlefnkodbefgpgknn
4. Open 000003.log (maybe in your case it will be another number at the end)
5. CTRL+F vault & copy the string starting with "KeyringController":{"vault":"{\"data\":\ ......hash keys/seeds..........salt...........\"}" do not copy the second }
6. go to https://metamask.github.io/vault-decryptor/ and enter this this into the upper box (and modify with your string where "XXXRETARDS...*" and your metamask password in the lower box

if nothing is spit out you got a syntax error, if "Problem decoding vault." you input the wrong pw.
optional: copy the github of decryptor and run it on your own linux box in case you dont trust it (link is on the webpage)

7. Get your keys back and don't lose them again.

In case shit is even more fucked, use Hetman Partition Recovery and find the logfile that way in the same location (on original disk), it will be marked with a red "x" if its been deleted, you can then recover it and proceed at step 4 (was not necessary in my case)

In case there's no logile there are probably other ways to recover it with other files from the chrome location but I didn't look into that and will never.
