If your TN is not only TN but also a fucking Matte display... then just switch to an IPS 1920x1080 @ 24" or 23.6" and make sure it's GLOSSY (so you see everything as it actually is). The difference will be amazing.

I got myself a cheap Samsung 4k tv that I use as a monitor while sitting on my bed with a wireless keyboard/touchpad and a controller. I can't run most games at 4k unless I tolerate 30 fps, but upscaled 1440p looks just fine on it. Upscaled anime looks a tad with better on 4k if you use madvr and mess around with the settings, and the text looks pretty crisp when using the browser. For purposes similar to mine, I'd say it's worth it. If you're upgrading from a TN to a VA or IPS, you're going to see a very noticeable difference in quality.
