I have Keratoconus. I have to wear a regular hard contact in one eye and a sclera lense in the other which is such a bitch to get on and off.

I got it from about a year long bout with the fact that I couldn't drink like I used to at 32 and literally after 3-4 beers after going home I'd throw up violently.

Actual eye doctor here. Take your drops you retard. Also get glasses. Glaucoma is a peripheral killing disease so unless you have end stage you still have a central island of vision. Also my magnifying your text only make the island of vision harder to use IF you are end stage. Also if its uncontrolled thru drops go get a goddam trab or slt/alt. Insurance will cover it if you are getting gibs and a burger. Combo contacts with peripheral expanders for fucks sake if you are squinting. If you have a legit eye doc they should have taken an Oct/photo/visual field. Upload em and I'll tell you ho bad it really is. I used to want to be an eye doc.. my dad has been a self employed optician for like 30 years making glasses for people filling their prescription. I always thought being an eye doc must be the easiest fucking medical doctor job. mostly they just flip some lenses around "which one looks better A or B". even then, their machines nowadays can just look in your eye and tell you what your prescription is so the doc is just going through the motions, lol

You need to keep using your drops and not end of the world. Go to a low vision clinic or go to your Optometrist for more advice and some specs for your squinting. Keep up with all your appointments. You need to see an optometrist at least every year.

Get good at using JAWS for Windows. Use ZoomText while you're learning it.

Learn how to use smart phone screen readers (iOS has the best integrated one). Also there are apps where you can take a photo and the phone reads what's in the photo. That will help you read menus and street signs without a magnifying glass.

Start searching for studies where cameras are integrated into bodies to provide something approximating terrible vision. As a young guy who can see, you're probably positioned fairly well for these kinds of implants and when combined with an ability to use assistive technology, should allow you to still live independently.

Also make a switch to audio porn if you're into porn. You won't get psychologically wrecked by having to rewire for auditory stimuli if you do it now.

On Braille, you don't have to learn it these days. It's only necessary if you start going deaf too. The main use of Braille is carrying note cards in your pocket and reading them during conversations to stay on point. I know a sighted lawyer who does this.
