Ok guys I am starting to think there may be some links between Chainlink and Urbit. let me explain:

A little while ago, like a few weeks ago maybe, there was a very brief thread here about a comment found in the urbit Github in which a user named Tonlur asked how to get in touch with Chainlink. This guys Tonlur's github profile is like almost blank so I figured it was pretty specious. But I thought "gee this would really be something, the last nail in the coffin of weird as fuck pol/biz singularity, if curtis yarvin was in touch with Sergey Nazarov. if you all do not know anything about Curtis yarvin or Mencius Moldbug or Urbit ill explain later at this point I will just assume you all know who and what these things are. And Ill talk later about the feasibility of urbit needing a service like chainlink. I want to talk about the things I have found in the last few days.

So I was browsing Urbit's twitter and I saw that name tonlur again, this time he is mentioned in this tweet: https://twitter.com/urbit/status/1027595486125948931

So I thought: "what if this is that same tonlur? if it is he must be fairly notable in the Urbit project"

So for the last few days ive been searching github and and twitter and the old public gmail group for urbit trying to find some connections between chainlink and urbit. I need some help guys.

So a very lighthearted connection is the fact that Curtis Yarvin called twitter user @bronzeagemantiz "the spokesman for the alt right"

This was around the time when Yarvin was getting interviewed bc of the weird press rumor that he had a back channel to communicate with Steve Bannon(we know bannon loves Yarvin regardless). And either way we know Yarvin has clout. One of the main investors in Urbits funding company, Tlon, was Peter Thiel. And going even farther back, Thiel paid for Tlon's other founder, John Buchman, to drop out of college to pursue "asteroid harvesting" .

Now we know BAP has posted multiple chainlink memes. So its possible Yarvin has seen them, who knows this could have been how he first heard of the project. Stranger things have happened.

There is even some speculation via Justin Muphy(is this guy satire or autistic idk desu) that Yarvin IS BRONZE AGE PERVERT. There has been lots of speculation as to what Yarvin's twitter "alt" is...

So I figure the real connections, if any, will exist between urbit and cl developers. For instance:

Matt Condon-

> so whats his connection to urbit?

urbits twitter retweeted his tweet:

Its basically talking about the path to on boarding consumers onto urbit; “Akin to a router”

He works for ZepplinOS. As we all know, there is a HUGE connection bwteen Zepplin and Chainlink:

Here is a useful and interesting blog post from 2017 of urbit discussing pros and cons of moving onto the ethereum blockchain
>https://urbit.org/blog/2017.9-eth/

This blog post has a pretty common sense explanation of just what urbit is: a personal decentralized server.

Here is a key quote:
> "Your Urbit instance is your personal server. Your urbit should eventually contain and manage your whole digital life. You may compute at home or in the cloud, based on your security/privacy tradeoff, but Urbit's formal semantics makes ships trivial to migrate. You'll never be locked in to one computing provider."

SO, in order for urbit users to interact securely at any level of security/privacy, a decentralized oracle must come in to use, correct?

Instead of the use case of connecting the blockchain to off chain info, what if we consider another use case: CONNECTING YOUR PERSONAL SERVERS TO THE BLOCKCHAIN IN A TRUSTED WAY.

If we accept that premise, than the next question to ask is who to use?

if anyone can just create a new coin, why would any coin replace currency. I get why XRP exists but I also get that another company can do the same. I get that bitcoin exists, I don't get how its function is better than any other coin based on new tech being developed everyday.

TLDNR Curtis Yarvin a guy that made alot of money in the first tech boom, enough that he was able to retire and basically just read books all day, so much so that he began a blog called unqualified reservations which ran from like 07 to 2016. His pen name while writing the blog was Mencius Moldbug. He is credited with starting the "dark enlightenment" or the "neo reactionary" movement along with Nick Land and a few others. This movement is considered more or less the intellectual wellspring of the far right(the alt right as it is called is a fiction largely in my opinion)

He is more or less very well connected in the tech world. For instance he watched the 2016 presedential election results with PeterThiel(if you dont know who Peter Thiel is then you need to stop and get that sorted out.

Also interestingly enough alot of these devs all follow or are followed by Nick Szanbo(potentially CL connection and in general a pre-BTC crypto guru)

Anothony Arroyo-Follows Szabo

Matt Liston- is followed by ConsenSYS twitter and its founder's twitter, Joseph Lublin

Morgan Sutherland- Followed by Szabo

So these guys are all Urbit users and or employees or devs, so if you all wanna help, go through these guys twitters, go through their Githubs, go through you tube searches, facebook, see if you can find any interesting posts or likes or friends or anything like that. Some other names to look into would be:

- Yoni Levy
- Matt Condon
- Juan Campa
- Ted BlackMan
- Anton Dyudin:
-Keaton dunsford
-Joe bryan
- Aaron Beckerman
- Justin Leblanc

Oh! another interesting place to look is Urbit's old google group: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/urbit-dev

they are bootstrapping the self-sovereign key ownership system using Ethereum, maybe they could be convinced to keep using it if they had reliable bidirectional data.

Cant sleep, so I am pressing on tonight a bit:

I was over in that Web3/oracalize/chainlink thread and I saw someone mentioning that Gavin Wood was in the room.

I know he helped create Ethereum and I recall some old reddit(never saw this on biz but honestly I am not on biz all so much so maybe I missed it) threads about how he mentions chainlink by name in a book he cowrote with Anders Antonopolous on Ethereum: https://github.com/ethereumbook/ethereumbook/blob/develop/oracles.asciidoc

So thats two different points in time we can connect Gavin to Chainlink. SO I figured "hey I wonder if I can connect him to Urbit?"

Looks like Gavin Wood was on a panel with Galen Wolfe Pauly in June of 2016 called the Decentralized web summit: https://2016.decentralizedweb.net/

And there is even video linked from the panel: https://archive.org/details/DWebSummit2016_Lightning_Talks_Session_B

I wont have time to watch the full video but Ill be sure to soon.
