> Under $13.00 an hour not including the additional way of earning extra money
> 1 or 2 years experience in an office setting for something very easy to learn on the job and which they end up training you for anyways
> Bypass it by having a certain amount of college units/degree I think/specialized training in...being a secretary, office practics, or something else idk)
> Rarely ever do overtime and if I did it was like 1 minute past leaving time
> Do a bunch of paperwork that is time sensitive, letting your supervisor give you menial tasks (eg grabbing a freaking empty cardboard box for her)/offload her work on you (have a coworker she is offloading a ton of her work on and she has the audacity to say she is busy with a lot of work)/be told to drop what your doing if she needs help on something even if your working on something urgent (succesfully told her "no" recently by turning her request down twice)

They are also hiring and I was informed the interviews didn't go well. What!? It's simple office work you don't need experience you can learn it on the job in 2 months time.

I get the feeling my supervisor wanted someone like me, a hardworker. Got the feeling she used to like me as well from the way she acted around me. Probably looking for someone that helps her destress, listen to her complaints, and do all the work she asks/offloads. When I first started she was clearly full of anxiety, low self esteem, and dressed very masculine with hair kept up and looked like she didn't shower often. Over time she let her hair down, looked less dirty, dressed more feminine, anxiety reduced, self esteem went up (still low overall but a change). This woman was getting all these benefits from me being there and what do I get? Her work! How about some freaking respect! Just because I'm an efficient hardworker does not mean I want to do all her work, which is why I slowed how fast I do my work and have piles of work on my desk so she backs off.

My account is getting audited by outside consultants. They found a big discrepancy from a branch location I failed to notice and I signed off on and the damn branch manager is of course on vacation and nobody in his office knows anything to explain anything and refuse to contact him while he's fucking off in Hawaii somewhere.

I can guess what happened, they did an erroneous double entry between monthly statements and another was a rounding error but I cannot be sure without discussing it with the branch manager. I'll probably go to jail or end up paying thousands of dollars or just get fired, or more likely, me reprimanded or perhaps given kind words of advice. No idea. My supervisors are totally apathetic about the audit and barely acknowledge it and keep giving me additional unrelated assignments. I should'nt be doing this shit to be audited for in the first place I'm not even a fucking real accountant I took over for somebody that was laid off.

I don't really care if I get fired but the job is easy and pays well so I'd like to keep it.

I work at a small pizzeria. I actually like the job of making pizza and serving it to the customers, but it's one of these small businesses where you're expected to know how to do everything and that's where the problems begin.

>very hot because of the furnace opening doors all the time, sweating profusely
>Have to do delivery too, when I do I fuck up horribly because Google maps is outdated in my zone and the city streets look like they have been planned by a child with down's syndrome.
>the delivery motorcycle is a death trap, owner refuses to fix the brakes and other important shit.

The worst part aside from the shitty wage and illegal contract (actually working 3x the hours it says) is this:
>expected/forced to socialize more than is strictly necessary with coworkers,
>they want me to go out partying with them this week because it's the bosses' birthday.

I can put up with the insane heat that made some coworker faint and end up in a hospital for two days, I can deal with the shitty customers and time pressure but don't make me go get drunk in a room with loud music I don't like and full of pretentious people that will laugh at me. Let's just do a quick calculation, if you live with your parents, have a job from 18 to 25, and make 10$ an hour:

10(pay/hr)*40(hr per week)*52(weeks in a year)*0.75(taxes)*7(years worked 18 to 25) = 109k.

Now that assumes you save almost all of your income for those 7 years, but it also assumes you don't work any over time, Sundays, holidays, or anything else which adds a lot more income. Sure most people don't have that kind of discipline, but you can also be working prior to 18 or just have other factors in your pay such as annual raises and such.

>that kind of discipline
Are you calculating income taxes out of wages? What. Also living with your parents instead of having a wife and a normal life is not a discipline but wasted time on earth.

>"net worth" whatever the fuck that even means
assets - liabilities. taking out a loan would not increase my net worth.

Oh really? Taking out a loan to buy a house worth 10 times what you have will not increase your net worth? Interesting. Say hi to mom.

Anyone here have golden handcuffs? How tight are they?
> 400k unvested
> 800k vested, been too lazy to sell any
>everyday calculating years to burn down
>considering retirement, but greed

I think I’m going to retire when the next set vests and I cross 1M - is this a bad idea?

>> No.10614466

>>10614381
You'll have to holistically run the numbers on the income you're expecting in retirement. An extra $200k goes a long way, being about $6-$9k a year for life, inflation adjusted, without even touching the principle. That's a nicer house, an extra vacation, a new motorcycle every year or two.

Is your job so shit that that's worth passing up?

I got a house around 2012, nothing wrong with it. I was saving for another, but I’m thinking that maybe i’ll gamble on myself and try to make a little business. I calculated that I can break even if I pull 40k a yr. Dividends pay out like 12k, day trading maybe 20-30k, so I just need a little boost to hit my goal.

>shit job
Just bored, been hacking away at it for like 9yrs now. Sick of deadlines, bosses, and annoying ladder climbers

>> No.10614795

You are unlikely to make consistent above-market returns by day trading. In long time frames it is significantly worse than a buy and hold strategy even if you withdraw dividends. Don’t plan your retirement around day trading.

Idk bros, I really think about just going to somewhere out of this disgusting city and just become a fisherman on some island instead, maybe ill kms but love my parents too much, logically I should finish my degree and get a job but everyone says I should face my passion instead of wagecucking

I'm tired /biz/. I'm the worst kind of wageslave - code monkey.

>large clusterfuck codebase
>mentally drained from formatting numbers/timespans/bullshit data all day
>traffic getting worse, takes over two hours to get home
>deadlines, subtly expected to work outside regular hours to meet them (unpaid)

sure i make decent money but i would give anything to be back four years ago as a comfy student living a practically NEET lifestyle. only alcohol can soothe my existential dread.
