I've been saving up for a holoport, but is it true they can easily be censored by ISPs?

What's the point of running a "whitehat botnet" if it can easily be shut down when the powers that be get tired of it?

At first they will, but they are developing a means around it via mesh networking

you dont need to buy a holoport, you can run holo in any linux system or even in a browser when the rust refactor is finished

that is disappointing, when will they have a plan?

Can I get a linux system computer for cheaper than a holoport?

I also keep seeing, posts for skycoin, are they a copy of holo? but they also seem to have an antenna.

No, Skycoin is actually legit. You can't create network bandwidth without providing a physical connection, hence the antennas.

It's just a pc, the only differences are

a) it was a way to gauge interest in the project, the ico available token supply was directly tied to how many holoports were sold and a way to bootstrap the mainnet.

b) it's more power efficient, it's a pretty optimized system but it's still built with mostly off the shelf parts.

c) it's plug and play, you don't have to learn how to install/use linux.

I mean you can just install it in a 40buck raspberry pi if you want to, but I guess if you're in it to make serious holo and you don't have any hardware lying around or live somewhere with expensive electricity then yeah I guess it could be cost effective.

thats pretty cool
they seem like they have a plan too, which is good

k thanks
I am worried about future censorship still. If I make a lot of holoports in one place like in china the chinese government could want to shut down storing data in other places so they could stop holoports from working over the border or in the country at all.
