Face it guys, the only usecase we currently have for blockchain technology is digitized currency and smart contracts. What I believe the next step should be is to build decentralized businesses.
With our current systems it's entirely possible to build a decentralized Uber and a social media platform that pays its users instead (ofc part of those profits should go to developers but you get the idea). What other business could we possibly decentralize?

Dude. Smart contracts is the 4th industrial revolution. The things you describe like decentralized business, decentralized uber, social media platform that pays users, etc, is built through smart contracts.

Smart contracts is everything actually useful with blockchain apart from permissionless transfer of tokens (muh bitcorn). It isn't a part of the fintech revolution. It is the fintech revolution.

Decentralized gaming will probably become really big as a next thing. There are tons of gamers, who are open to new genres and doing new things. With blockchain you can actually monetize skill and playing games in no other way done before. Pay2play has blown up with competitions jackpots being astronomical. Tons of kids/gamers dream about being able to get paid for playing games. I got a good feeling about it.

I know
but we're talking specific use cases for smartcontracts.
Right now it's just ponzis. We need it to actually add value to the economy and drive demand upwards

Who would pay gamers and the devs tho?
Where is the money going to come from?
having erc 20 tokens as in game currency doesn't count as decentralized gaming imho

Human mining and Proof Of Skill. This stuff has already been researched as early as 2012/2013 by Huntercoin. Also the trading of ingame assets, right now its a very grey area when you trade this stuff but it happens anyway and at the expense of the safety of the consumer.
