what a lot of people fail to understand is when you're at work for 8 hours you aren't being productive for the entire 8 hours. Good companies are aware of that, so they try to use that downtime to help you refuel, keep you happy. You can say they are incentivized to do so, sure, but I'd call that relationship synergistic. Yep. Same with the previous 2 companies I worked at the last two years. This is why I only work in crypto and freelance right now. There's so much dumb money in tech it's insane. And it's going to all come to crypto especially once it scales. Only a matter of time, really.

my typical software engineering day:
wake up at 6:00am
work out in home gym from about 6:30 to 7:30
make breakfast and shower, leave by 8:30
get to work around 9:00
coffee and news till about 10:00, most people actually get in around this time
usually have meetings with the Indians at 11:00am to make sure their shit is in line (its like the middle of the night for them, crazy)
lunch, I usually pack and eat at my desk to avoid having to act like I like my coworkers, around 12:00-1:00
usually around 2:00pm we have whats called "scum meeting" its complete bullshit meme in the industry you can google it if you want a good laugh. its about 30minutes of people desperately sandbagging the fuck out of everything they're working on
get most work done from 3:00 to 4:00pm.
around 4:00 get tired and browse the internet
5:00pm head home
5:30 get home and make dinner
go to bed around 10:00pm
I make about $15k/month, pretty comfy

1. Take boring job with less stress, even if pay a bit less. Stress fucks up your health and energy levels. Maintain good rapport with your boss.

2. Go for side-hustle. It’s not easy to narrow down. But as a general advice your first business should be focused on cash-flow and up to a small degree on your hobby/interest.

3. Learn investment (stocks, not crypto gambling) and target to build a solid and diversified income-producing portfolio. Read about FiRE and practice frugality.

4. Adopt frugality, simplicity and sustainability in your life. FIRE or journey towards FIRE would free your mind to spend somewhere else. Spend more time with nature. Experiment with gardening, meditation in sanctuary or greenish outdoors. Hug a tree and feels gratitude.

5. Fix your diet and exercise routines. Don’t over-exercise. Look at Paleo or AIP / anti-inflammatory diets. Fix your sleep time and circadian rhythms. Optimise your vitamin levels.

6. Engage right brain more often. Write / create a short film / compose a music / illustrate / design anime or whatever creative expression suits you. Publish those pieces to journal your progress.

7. Learn spirituality. It’s different from religion. At the very least think about interconnectedness of all earthly beings. Realise that your life and life of a random animal in Africa is actually not much different. Nature doesn’t care for your Xbox games or mindless consumerism. Keep your desires and aspirations checked.

8. Help others - unprivileged ones / orphans / sick and olderly people. Please remember that when you perform a self-less act or philanthropy or charity, your body and mind says “thanks” to you, chemically !!!

Live a simple life rooted to your tradition and culture escaping mindless trap of consumerism.

the woman in the video looks like she clocks in to work at like 11am and left by like 4pm, about 5 hours as well

sure the commutes gay but honestly i've lived the NEET life before (after working fulltime for almost a decade) and it gets boring sitting around at home and not having a good work/life balance to add structure to your day. I'd almost welcome a cozy commute like she has in the video where you're out in the sun riding in a window seat on a train.

Reality is that it doesn't matter how free or rich you become, you're going to have problems just like everyone else, or you're going to postpone your problems by living such an isolated lifestyle that you'll develop severe mental illness instead and pay the toll for those problems later.

Look at all the millionaires, CEOs, actors, musicians, people who had life in the palm of their hands, as much money and power and fame and success as they'd ever need and they end up killing themselves.

In America it is all about tailoring your commute and living experience. I live in an extremely nice part of the country, my commute is 10 minutes: half though houses & businesses, and half through forest & farm fields. I make six figures and work in a cluster of small businesses/sole proprietors, so the people I interact with professionaly on a daily basis are 98% white men. My life is super stress free and there is rarely any interpersonal bullshit to deal with.

Most people my age and younger have no idea how shitty modern work environments are, especially compared to how they could be if we we're allowed to discriminate.

My suggestion, be a small business owner and work with other small businesses, much easier to tailor the Who Where When and How Far.
