Buy an ornate sabre or a renaissance rapier if you want a sword. They are more decorative yet still functional, they don't immediately scare girls off if you have them in a display case.

You can get nice military sabres that are well decorated and highly functional.

Having a Scottish style sword will tell a girl that you're 16 and watch too much lord of the rings.
