"Computing and Graphics segment revenue was $1.09 billion, up 64 percent year-over-year and down 3 percent quarter-over-quarter. Year-over-year revenue growth was driven by strong sales of Radeon products and continued growth of Ryzen products. The quarter-over-quarter decline was primarily related to lower revenue from GPU products in the blockchain market."

How does this affect NVIDIA going into their ER? I'm not expecting much effect but combined with China exposure maybe it hits them.

Yeah, I just want people to understand the crux of everything. Self-Driving Cars (proxy for ML) are the clear biggest lynch pin over the next year.

If you are bullish or bearish you need to understand this and have expectations on which companies will feast and which will famine. It can help explain a lot of valuations too. For instance it's a good reason to be bullish on AMD due to potential upside from 7nm Instinct line.

Also important to realize. Hardware requirements to train leading ML algos have doubled every 3 months according to AI whitepapers. Think about that demand.

>Is there a formula can use to determine when compounding should begin becoming visible?
it all depends on what you buy, and when
besides that im affraid I have no specific formula for that (i think half of my gains have been from holding AMZN for a year)

>Most of these investing sites just give the bland basics, but after a certain point, they become redundant.
if there was a magical way to always gain money, you wouldnt give it away, and even if you did, someone would figure out why its working, and they would change that
if you knew the secret formula to turn water into gold would you tell everyone you saw how to? no, because it would no longer be a valuable thing to do, if everyone was able to do it
and random chance (black swan events especially) means that there is no magical formula to win always anyways

the only guaranteed formula to make money is to sell for a higher price than what you bought, how you do that is another challenge altogether

here is a basic graph explaining compounding interest in bank accounts, and considering SP500 and DJIA regularly make 20%-30% gains in a year instead of 0.5% like bank dividends, youll notice it sooner than these graphs show

to be honest, learning math skills (up to calculus, understanding derivatives and integrals) will probably help you way more than any meme stock trading "tip" will, at least in the long run

china's econemy starts shrinking
if china liquidating US treasuries is like them shooting us in the foot, then its like sawing off their own legs too

any short term gain they get from it will be offset by the sudden end of growth in their own economy

and besides, there is no other consumer market nearly the size of america's to buy their cheap crap instead
there would be massive layoffs in china across the board, every sector

it may lead to protests in the US from the handfull of people who miss out on a pay raise(and pissed off CEO's of course), but there would be riots in china from the entire towns/small cities that suddenly experience 50% or more unemployment

and besides, only a little over 30% of us treasuries are owned by foreign governments, the FED alone has 15%, our state governments have another 5% or so too

the main difficulty in stocks is the math, and the jargan, which can be mostly picked up from investopia

/smg/ if great for memes and the occasional insider trading tips, but most of the advice you get on most (if not all) stock trading websites is bs, retarded, or bagholders trying to get a new sucker to buy their bags

always be skeptical if someone says they "know" if a stock will go up or down, because they dont decide that, the market does, and the market can be irrational for far longer than you can be solvent

I'm starting to think I should give up day trading and just short or call ERs. It would be more work having to look up everything and think of ways they can fail, but much more rewarding. A handful would give me enough to live off and it's easy enough to make safety nets. My risk reward ratio on Facebook was 20-1 I could fail 19 times and still make cash.

Thank you. It truly is remarkable. I feel ok though because the other big one I’m shorting heavily is Twitter. Crash imminent hold on boyos. Sadly I sold off a chunk of twitter earlier (well, bought , but anyway) because I was more confident about Facebook down that I was about Twitter. Turns out I was correct as of today, but timed wrong. I thought nearer toward end of summer . I’ve been watching options fluctuations on tech pretty closely for a while now. last time tech correction downward went fb first then twitter . and the middle parts of the curve started going bonkers when the market couldn’t figure out overall up or overall down . Hopefully same thing again. And if it FB stays lowish for just a teeny bit longer I think I’ll come out very ok. We’ll see , people must be expecting a pretty big correction upwards to put my sept/oct FB shorts even further underwater after today. held for 8 months already, I’ll hold it a bit more. twitter bags gotta feel pretty heavy right about now . Plus twitter gained on FB news all day? Yeah right. Just saw market movement about an hour ago so I’m just now getting up to speed on what happened. Also, quick rant — something that drives me completely nuts is how they figure out options pricing when the ask price is 0.0 , they just average the difference between the ask and the ask and the bid. But on super far end of the curves the spread is super wide so the price just ends up fluctuating like crazy without any actual buying or selling taking place, which makes all the percent change tyoe things totally wrong and annoying and misleading. for instance, one of my FB puts shows a +22,500% percent change today. Which would be amazing , except nothing actually happened those aren’t the real prices since the bid price didn’t move at all only the ask did.

sand-anons top picks for "Sanding It Up™"; sand up your life and lose hair over the stress of oil prices

reasons for U.S. production oil going up = U.S. produced oil can now be sold by U.S, Permian basin, currently pipeline is bottle-necking output but pipeline will soon be expanded which will lead to a glut of production, oil companies scrambling to drill baby drill due to the recently lifted restrictions
more selling of oil to markets around the world (but mostly china); plastic will need production, fuel, synthetic production and all that crap

so when the restrictions were lifted; texas needed sand to create the wells; and the production of a well is a 10-ish year affair so they needed a lot of fucking sand; about 2.5 million pounds at the minimum, 7 million at the most; when the permian rush began sand companies set up shop shortly after; a few companies then a lot of companies, enough to make investors worried that there was an over abundance of them

so they've been flying under everybodies radar. you might take notice, as a good investor would that SND's short ratio was 35%, that analysts were giving sell ratings and that the company was making bullish mine aquisitions; positive P/E in the first 2 years of being a fucking company. I can't remember where the site listed the amt. of sand they had to sell, but I did a lot of math and figured out that these companies don't have enough sand, not nearly enough for the rate that derricks are being built

so I took out options, long strongly bullish options about 2 months out and low and behold, we got some winners in the last week;
HCLP; the strongest, most established company making bullish statements, bullish acquisitions, .75 cent fucking dividend a QUARTER, strong buy at the moment
SND; no div, weaker but highly undervalued, even now extremely low despite recent 5% uptick, value play
SLCA; has U.S. in the name and short ratio is still high, undervalued and has regained bull sentiment

hahaha oh fuck no they just make about 50% of their company value every year
some of the sand companies were (last month historically, check their charts) only following oil down, and ignoring when U.S. oil prices increased
(institutional fear of peak oil? fear of tariffs on biggest buyer of oil? ultimately should not have effected sand company pricing, yet it did)

SND was particularly susceptible to downward movements, along with SLCA for the last 2 months, it's why I think it's a good play
I do want to inform you that I'm holding a lot of SND contracts; but I put a lot of money into these companies because they're printing money at the moment

google 'what the fuck happened to DRYS' exactly like that, also worth looking up is 'investopedia reverse splits'
also HMNY is a pretty good value play; terrible story about the company being run into the ground like that by that dementia ridden CEO

when they finally get the board of director restructuring approved; it's a smooth sail to 50$ at least
easy money, but you might wanna do your own research into them to figure out a good sell point, might wanna just put 100 into the company and forget about the money for a month

Attention whores gonna attention whore. She’d find away to do it with or without a name.
It’s been about two weeks for us. The heat broke some so it hasn’t been too bad. Last week was brutal though. I’m hoping for more rain to wash away the African dust that blowing in. It’s got a lot of people sick.
