Hamilton and Tauranga are both total shitholes.
Christchurch is pretty munted from earthquakes and was flat and gay before then.
Auckland is humid and multicultural, enough said. Can be a good time if you have a car and are there when all the Aucklanders are not ie Christmas.
You don't really visit New Zealand for our cities.
