so it looks like weve been shorting the wrong bonds desu. what do you guys think about setting up a bunch of extremely longterm puts on SHY?
the IV on SHY ATM puts is currently 1%, but on the off chance that the yield curve inverts, im sure that will get LOADS higher (especially on a longterm contract). and the vega is like 66% of the premium, so even a 1% change in IV will be enough to be a decent return. and in the event it does invert, the IV is gonna get a LOT higher than that, as the 2yr heads straight for the center of the earth.

the problem is of course, low liquidity, but in the event of a yield curve inversion, im sure SOMEONE will wanna buy my puts rather than hold some shitty ETF full of 2yr bonds through a recession.

what do you guys think? is there a better, optionable ETF that holds 2yrs? is this all just too fucking retarded? it seems like a very low risk way to bet on a yield curve inversion. its not like a bunch of 2yr bonds are gonna run away from me too fast. and if it manages to go ITM, w a gamma of 45, it could actually become quite profitable. worst case scenario, i eat a bit of theta and maybe a few cents delta, then roll out to the next longest contract that becomes available

Sector wide dumpening today. Supposedly in reaction to some tax levy government is thinking about tacking on. Whole thing is pretty dumb. Anyway, the charts indicate to me this is not going to be a sustained drop over multiple days. RSIs are too low already, bears don't have the volume to keep it up. Seeing electric vehicles other than cars makes me wonder how they havent taken off. An electric vehecle is a motor, an inverter and a battery. You don't need a gearbox, you dont need a transmission, nothing. A smaller vehecle means less weight which means a small battery. But every one of these little shits I see is 2-3x the price of a comparable ICE motorcycle. No ones buying an electric noname shitbike for x3 the price of a ninja 250. The market is completely incompetent thus untapped.

If TSLA wanted to get solvent quick, they'd sell electric scooters for 4k each to college students.

you can make fucking bank making your own electric bikes and selling them to normalfags. people will pay easily $1k online for them, and there arent a lot of people making them, so you can go a LOT higher than that given the right clientele.

i know a guy who does this. the dude turned down a job at TSLA cuz he can make a comparable amount of money (compared to starting wage) just making his OWN batteries, mounting them on old cruiser bikes, and selling them to people around town and on the internet

this would be a way easier proof of concept thing to accomplish than EVs, and would likely be more profitable per unit due to much lower overhead. unlike them scrambling to make 5k cars in a week and barely managing that (and also their lead guy quit right after lol).

College students have incredible ammounts of money to blow. How do you think they end up in so much debt? It isn't all tuition. Macbooks cost over 2 grand. These little shits won't do the math on how much gas you actually save on electric vs ICE. They'll just hear electric and get that warm fuzzy "im saving the planet" feeling that they crave and leave it at that. They can then safely look down on all the companions as they are the most pious under the new leftist ethic. You just need to make the iPad version of a moped and they'll line up for it.

that wasnt just everyone at once deciding LCI was topped out. that was the dudes who make up 50% of the float deciding they want it to go down. they hammered the fuck out of it. look at VAP on it for the day.

theres a fuck huge gap. the reason? big fucking blocktrades smashing the bid. the reason i assume it was shorts and not longs was because shorts were in the tighter position at the time in the morning, and most bulls are in it for a squeeze or are bagholding from much higher up

could be wrong, but i see this kind of behavior on already heavily shorted stocks as a kind of act of desperation. why corner yourself into an even larger squeeze unless you had to?

>Where the fuck do you learn that shit?
if you ever trade thinly traded pennystocks you will learn that pretty quick. Theres been times where i've held stock to companies that is more than 10 times the avg. volume. When you have large positions you think differently about how to buy and how to sell. You can't buy 1,000,000 shares of a company at once that is only worth 3,000,000 and you sure as hell can't sell them all at once either.

And yes ihub is a big help for things if you really want to get into corporate structure and trading.

Idk what a good strike and expiration date would be.
I've only tried pricing those out with smaller positions in SPY.
How does 1 month at $16 sound? That's a P/B of 1.0, which is where I'd definitely consider getting out by, but I don't usually do this much "strategerie" as George Dubbaya would say

their charts are pretty lackluster, but they got good info on company fundamentals
plus theres a free stock screener and a heatmap (which i like to look at pretty much every day n the morning to see where all the sectors are at)
https://finviz.com/map.ashx?t=etf

for free charts, try tradingview.com
they try to get you to get the "pro" version, so that you can get additional indicators and stuff. but it also has a thing called "pine editor", which allows you to program your own indicators and strategies, so long as youre slick enough to code them

Limiting risk and magnifying gains. With an option, you can only ever lose what you put in. Say I wanted to short volatility. Buying puts on the UVXY is a hell of a lot safer than shorting. If I think a big move is coming soon, I pay a premium to have 100x leverage. Options let you turn small hunches into big gains. If I think T is about to bounce 50 cents after people calm down about the DoJ appeal, I can buy calls. 50 cents isn't a whole lot of profit on owning a $32 share. But when 10 contracts control 1000 shares, calling the 50 cents right adds up to a lot more.

Why do people do this to themselves? If you want big gains, why don't you just trade (with leverage) well known stocks you can research instead of buying into a meme and praying? You could have been researching something like GBR.

Degiro isn't that bad, but it has a bit of a shit and confusing UI and sadly you can't customize it as much as you'd want.

Comfy, if the P/E is negative, that's like having a P/E of positive infinity.
P/E is the stock price divided by EPS -- if P/E is low, that means each share is entitled to a substantial amount of profit. If the P/E is high, there's a small sliver of profit to each share... if the profit is negative, each share is entitled to a loss and P/E is negative.

well idk about baggy, but the reason IM short on TLT is because i think that the FED, w their QT, is going to dump a lot of their longterm bonds (or in the case of QT, letting 50$B a month of their long bonds portfolio mature w out re-investing). THATS why i was short. in anticipation of the FED dumping.

the problem is, is that w all the tradewar and intl FUD, as well as the market acting up, bonds have been getting bought up, even on the good days in the S&P.
