Here in the Uk. I used to think America had it better. They have higher GDP per capita and unlike us here you guys are sceptical of government whereas here government just gets bigger and bigger

But the flip side of muh freedom from government oppression is that you become corporate slaves instead of government slaves. Americans are the ultimate wage slaves. That’s the only reason why they are slightly better off than Europe. I can’t imagine the hell if only getting 1 or 2 weeks respite from wage slavery per year (which many are pressured not to take). I agree that the US is better for entrepreneurship than Europe, but it’s far from as bad as you’re making out to be. At least not in the rich European countries.

First, the federal reserve was created and the gold standard dropped. We claimed it was to control inflation. Problem was we made up own own arbitrary measurement of inflation that can be manipulated to mean whatever we want. Today we call this the consumer price index. The important thing to know is that we can print as much money we want and adjust the index to show inflation is at our 2% target.

The wealthy through banks started a massive expansive of lending over the past 100 years. You may ask why are the wealthy both inflating the money supply and buying debt? Remember, they control the money supply, they print as much cash as they want. The point is not to make money, they can print money now, but to maintain control over real wealth. The expansion of lending and fractional reserve banking has lead to inflation of supply constrained resourced like real estate. At the same time improvements in technology have increased worker productivity by 10x. So goods like food and entertainment have gotten 10 times cheaper to produce. So as inflation adjusted wages plummet the average worker can still afford to eat and watch TV, but continues to get priced out of any real assets that they can use to accumulate wealth.

The entire purpose of this system is to maintain the neo-feudalist class hierarchy, limit upward mobility of the peasantry, and maintain wealth of the top 1%. An example is that as a peasant its in your best interest to acquire a mortgage, so that you are leveraged against inflation. But when everyone does this the prices of houses inflate many times over to the point where if mortgages didn't exist your house would probably cost less than your down payment. Its game theory. Collectively the peasantry would be better off if no one participated in the system, but because most do to protect their own interest everyone has to, even if collectively they are worse off.
