Theres a bunch where I live, like 1 every 5 blocks average. And non have closed down in the 4 years I've lived here.

If I was you I would go to local businesses/offices and try to get them to sign up for a doughnut plan. Deliver fresh donuts every friday or x days for a subscription or something like that. You might want to try that before commiting to an actual store.

Oversaturated in most us cities. Try a smaller college town maybe. You want to open up somewhere with foot traffic. Donut shops arent destinations. Towns with bakeries that only cater or make finer deserts will also give you room to wiggle into the market, but these guys can adapt to your competition with very low capital. How would you source ingredients etc? Do you know anything about baking equipment costs, square footage required, permits?

If you open one of the franchised doughnut shops such as Dunkin', it's a living. My understanding from a few years ago is that a typical *successful* store allows the owner to make $60,000 to $80,000 profit per year per store. Note that I'm talking about a successful store. You must have your doughnut shop in a place where there are enough customers and few enough competitors that you can make a profit. So picking a location is extremely important to the success or failure of the business.

Not always laundering, but often times just there because the owner has too much money and just bought them as a way to diversify but not concentrate on them. Many shops like that just break even or very little profit but keep running anyway because the owner says why not?

The town I live there are hundreds of these shops (because its a nice area) so the wives of the wealthy husbands all have hobby shops open that exist for no other reason than to keep her busy lmao

Google the donut bar in San Diego. They sell over glorified gourmet donuts and beer. A fucking diabetes venue. But anyway, they market it very well. They only sell fresh donuts. And there’s a street block line just to buy them. Also the owner has a lambo parked outside, so people love taking pictures (more advertisement). I think so. There's this Asian ice cream chain in socal called Afters that serves ice cream/donut sandwichs. There's also one called Diddy Reese near UCLA that serves cookie/ice cream sandwiches for really cheap. At night there's usually a line to these places. Donuts shops are cheap and easy startups for first time business owners I think. Maybe consider a dry cleaners, self-serve car wash or even a coffee shop as well?

Waffles, apple pie, cakes, slushes, ice cream, banana fritters, cinema style popcorn. There are few places that specialise in that sort of stuff.

Head off to events and sell mini doughnuts.
My friend was doing this for less then a year, bought several of these donut stands and now has over 50 across the country being operated by people and he makes a cut.
