Judging by the speaking engagements he had in China earlier this year and the way he speaks about spending 30+ years helping them build stock exchanges and stuff I suspect if he's not a actual economic adviser for the Chinese then he at least knows some of the highest economic bureaucrats and people who """""really"""" know what Xi is going to do.
So this is bad. Having said if I had to do a layman's "discourse analysis" on Dalio's tweet: it's vague enough to not explain how protracted or vicious Chinese reprisals will be. He could have easily used some spoopy language that predicted doom or gloom, but he's avoided that which means that he remains cautiously optimistic. I mean if he thought this was gonna be a tits-up clusterfuck then he'd probably use a adjective "painful" or "devastating". But he's described it as a "war", obviously evoking the meme of "trade war" but without using that phrase. It's only 10 words long, so that wasn't for concision.

On the flip side, I've always suspected that Trump would be the first to blink, back down, and still call it a "beautiful deal".
I can't wait to see how Scott Adams reframes this.
