oh bummer

yeah the way i see it, commodities have been held back a lot due to the dollar rising so damn much on the rate hikes. not to mention the amount of people whove sold out of equities, pumping it even further. however, in spite of this, commodities have continued to inch their way up alongside the dollar. to me, this indicates serious inflation happening in the dollar (also reflected by the CPI).

now if we look at historical data, every time this tandem movement between U$D and the GSCI happens, eventually the dollar gives up and starts falling. this is when all commodities start going for a run as inflation spirals out of control (pic related)

combine that w the fact that the wheat harvest was hit early on this year w bad drought conditions, and we are looking at a possible shortage in the amount of wheat that will be harvested this year, driving the price up. last report day was last friday, and reflected this assumption, so ive been buying more. SOYB (or whatever the yuro counterpart would be) is another commodity thats been hit by not only rising U$D, but also by tradewar FUD. keep an eye on that one, it just started to move

Ive been doing this successfully for 3 months. The most important factor is to find stocks that are in an overall uptrend, have a relatively low volatility and relatively high market cap. You also want to go for dividends that make it worth the effort(a .05% div would probs be a waste of time to try and cap for example)

What ive found is one of two things usually happen. Either I exit the morning it goes ex and make about halfway between my break even price and my entry price+div, or I stay in the position a few days and exit when I am back at my entry price. Once I get through another 3 month cycle of capturing quarterly dividends this way, ill use more money for this strat.

this is a strategy depending on how the float looks.

lest say in HMNYs case (as this could happen). we have a LARGE amount of the available float right now thats short. most of it, in fact. so HMNYs CEO is an actual retard, and managed to fuck this up again, so its r/s time. what happens in a r/s is that multiple stocks (depending on the second number of the ratio) get put together to form 1 stock. the price gets adjusted accordingly, as well as anyone holding the stock from before end up with the corrseponding ratio less shares that they were holding.

the caveat is that this also happens to the people holding short. so now the total number of shares is FAR less than it was (by at LEAST a factor of 2). this means that there are FAR less shares for anyone to buy in, but ALSO there are less shares for shorts to buy back. shorts are then in a sticky situation where it is MUCH harder to cover w out initiating a squeeze.

the only way I can see them as producing any worthwhile money is if someone has a fuckload of shares, at which point it makes me wonder why people write these calls on high value stock when I can get the same premium buying a $3 stock, whose calls also have a premium of .01-.03 a share
