Stick with what you know, otherwise you're gambling on stuff you don't. In the meantime, start researching industries you're interested in. I make money on biotech but that's because I know how it works. If I didn't, I'd lose my shirt every other day. Also you can add a blue chip or two to your book that pays a dividend that you don't have to worry about too much, something you know isn't going anywhere. I think the future of solar is tied to battery tech. Unfortunately the only brand name associated with this at the moment is Tesla. I hypothesize with the already high price of Tesla stock even with a great success with their battery front wouldn't give a crazy ass windfall. Therefore keep your ear to the ground for battery techs trying to match Tesla's efforts in home battery. I do believe Tesla is still not a solid investment however, just not as exciting.

I'm always iffy on solar for short term plays. It'll make you money but you have to hold it for so long to make it worth your while. I'd rather have that liquidity freed up for better plays. If I'm going to lock up cash long term, I'd rather see something real coming back. In that div I recommended to anon above, I'm in for 300 shares at 18.04 and it's at 15.70 at the moment. Some might say to me hey you're out 700 bucks on the purchase price. Yeah but I've cleared 1296 on it in dividends this year. I'll take that. Now it doesn't matter what price I sell it at. Little things like that are better plays if you're building capital, which I still am.

I almost bought that last year as opposed to CLM. It was on the short list, I remember that, and I'm still tracking it. I think you'd have to buy a shit ton of it to make it worth your while, which is doable because of how low it trades. Same principle applies, get in today at 4.75 or so, hold for 1 yr +, hope to sell over 6-6.25 but if not, just wait long enough until the div outweighs your loss and comish. I chose CLM because it's a monthly as opposed to quarterly so I can get out faster if I want to. Plus the higher price increases the odds for me that it's going to hold value better. Not always true, but often enough that's the case. FTR might only be worth 5 bucks forever with that kind of volume. I've seen CLM up to 22 something. It's still a good buy though, it's just day traded too much for my tastes.

Every time you get paid, pay yourself first and forget about it. Doesn't matter if you got bills or other shit you want or need to buy, skim off that 10 percent or whatever you can afford first and put it away like it never existed. You can always hustle harder to figure out your day to day. When you build up a good sized little egg, then send the money out to work. You can do it with just a little bit but you have to make more conservative bets to build that capital. What RH knows full well and doesn't tell you because it doesn't have to is the guy making bank on a meme is buying 30,000 shares at a time and then dumping when it notches up. Everyone else is just along for the ride. I think I got in the market originally with around 2K and kept adding to it. The most I ever made was on a big buy (for me) of WMT when it was trading low like it is right now. Think I cleared maybe three grand. But that's the rarity. It's more about slow and steady wins the race for me.
