it's still true now as it was then, and 99.99% of the people in crypto don't even understand what happened. bitcoin died in 2016 and cannot hope to be more than a speculative tool with a slight part of the potential it could have achieved

>but m-muh 2017 bull run
mike hearn is a developer, not a speculator. bitcoin's rise from 2016 to 2018 was jumpstarted by washtrading, orderspoofing and tether fraud from bitfinex, then encouraged through the ethereum ICO craze and general hype. again, all the evidence for this is available and dates back to 2016. most people refuse to look at it, just like most people in 2007 didn't want to believe the warning signs from 2005-2006

bitcoin could have been world-changing technology, but now it will remain a toy. >>10144565 is correct: ethereum is bitcoin 2.0 in disguise. rebranding and using a new codebase has allowed to get rid of a lot of dead weight who was ultimately harmful to the ethos of bitcoin: speculators, druglords, pedophiles, low-level libertarians and of course the many, many people who could not see beyond "currency" and "valuation"

of course, there are still individuals like that in ethereum. the whole point isn't to shake them all out, but to make sure they don't end up commandeering the direction of the project. thanks to bitcoin having the spotlight, vitalik has been able to be a public figurehead with a positive influence on development. and even though ethereum faces its own philosophical attacks now in terms of ICOs and scams, its ethos remain intact and progress is made

perhaps in time it will fail as well and there will be a bitcoin 3.0. advice for newfags, no existing altcoin fit the bill and no existing altcoin would ever fit the bill. it would have to be a new project of sufficient size, with the right vision and correctly aligned incentives; which seems extremely unlikely for the time being. so don't rush to buy EOS or IOTA or whatever because shills meme you about "crypto 3.0"...

your capacity for logic and abstraction fail you on three different layers at once and you don't even perceive a single one of these failures
but yes anon, keep shitposting frogs on a rice trading Cambodian forum. convincing yourself you made the right choice is surely a better course of action than a careful analysis of the situation

The only reason I invested in bitcoin in 2010 was to dump eventually for something that actually worked. Everyone else in this market is a blind faggot, especially fags who got in recently.
