I think they might be scraping off your purchase and sales. Every time I put in a limit, even if its a few cents higher or lower, it always sells for that limit. The whole thing. Every time. I need to try it out, like buying at limit $1 for a penny stock but still, I shouldn't be going down 5 cents when something is peaking and up 3 when its doing shit. I mean if they bought the stock then sold it to you at the requested price you couldn't complain and they would make money.

It's not useless for swing trading. However there are a lot of extra things about how to properly use indicator tools that aren't immediately obvious. Take the MACD for instance, the main thing you look for with it is rising cross (blue crosses above red) or falling cross (blue crosses below). The statistical reliability of those depends on the overall trend, what part of the MACD range the cross occured (above or below midline), what sort of angle the lines met, how long the time scale you're using is. MACD is pretty reliable on weekly scale and somewhat reliable on daily. It is near useless, in my opinion, on hourly or shorter time frames.

Pic related is my usual chart setup. I use MACD and Stochastic RSI as bullshit checks against each other. If they don't agree, I weight them both much less in my decision to trade the security or not. Or, I take the conflict as meaning too much uncertainty and therefore will either hold or not buy in to begin with.

Indicators not shown on my chart I also commonly use are simple moving average and sometimes Hull moving average.

>> No.10139978

I like using the average true range to determine overal stock direction and use the 8 and 34 ema crossovers as entry points. It works on most timeframes and its much better if the crossovers agree across multiple timeframes.

look up the CCI

been using a 20 period CCI and a 6 period CCI on daily charts. works real good. stochastic always jukes me out

have to tighten them up when looking at monthly charts though. i set em to a year and a quarter lookin at those (12 and 3 periods respectively). then i overlay that with OBV to see which way the moneyflow is trending

this way you got longterm and short term support/resistance points, a redundant momentum indicator (with the same kind of relationship as %K and %D as stoch, so nothing new to learn really), and buy and sell signals. i buy when slow CCI passes above -100 and sell half when fast one hits 100 and turns around (sometimes it will go beyond 100, so this way i sell when it comes back). stoploss is if the slow CCI decides to then fall back below -100

Theres an indicator called the squeeze on TOS based on this. It finds when the Keltner channels start falling into the Bollinger bands. This usually indicates a buildup of price lability.

They then superimpose the ATR on top to show momentum. John Carter talks about this in his book. It has been good for me. It called the recent DIS breakout and NDX breakout on the weekly charts. works on most timeframes.

Hey Goyim, I've been so off with HMNY lately. I'm much better with long term shit than short term. The first week of September is the main goal. There's going to be money making opportunities in the mean time, but if you buy any time after the reverse split and hold until the first week of September, that's where the real money should be. Obviously you don't want to be stupid and buy when it's over $1, but even if you do, you'll still do well in September.

>> No.10141068

bollinger band width is another good one i use to screen for big reversals. i dont use it fr buy/sell triggers tho

the problem i have with all of these popular and preset indicators is that i know everyone uses them, and the bogs know this as well. so thats why my prerogative is to tighten and loosen each indicator accordingly so that i can stay ahead of the other fags using the same indicators with my entry/exit triggers. you just have to have a nice balance between it being too tight/loose, otherwise youll end up w a lot of shitty false signals.

so many hours ive spent autistically adjusting things, and comparing it to historical data, on multiple different time frames etc

but the confidence you get once you find something that works is awesome. totally worth it

if you daytrade (imo), you need to use 2 point stops. but i make it more complicated a little to manage my risk.

ex
>ooh thats going up
>buy (in an amount divisible to two)
then based on my indicators i set
>a stoploss trigger for the full position
>a profit taking trigger (thats at least twice the distance from entrance to stoploss) for HALF the position
if it hits my profit target, i then
>use a trailing stop (whose percent i will not reveal for obvious reasons) for the remainder of my position.
this way, i stand to make around twice as much as im risking, but with this half bracket/profit exit, i have the opportunity to capture moonshots if i get lucky

and im a real degenerate so i do this with short term long options contracts (DEFINITELY not recommended for beginners)

but this is how you have to think at ALL times if youre daytrading. you need to be ABSOLUTELY vigilant with your risk management, and you also need to be VERY slick with your entries (i watch tick charts)

I'm referring to the graphs of the stochastic oscillator itself, not to any graphs of a stock's price itself.
The graph of XYZ's stochastic oscillator shows XYZ being overbought for time frames greater than 6 months, but oversold for 3 months, oversold for 1 month, and undersold for 2 weeks.

Every chart shows something different and I don't know which I'm supposed to be using to help plan my entries and exits

im a more short time guy, so what i do is watch daily, 4hr, 1hr, 15min, and tick charts for entry and exits. so maybe for you, try doubling or tripling all of these and look for confirmations on more than one timeframe (ie the shorter term and longer term look bullish/bearish together). you want it to be going your direction on a few different times, that way you can be comfortable you arent betting against the trend

I don't consider SBUX safe or having huge upside. The tide could turn against it very quickly. It is an image based company that provides little value. C is one of the worst banks. They go to shit in any crisis, JPM bounces back quick. Why own shit when you can buy best of breed?
