the stock price reflects the valuation of a company. a highly valuable company has an easier time raising cash: it is easier to issue and sell new shares, easier to get creditors to sign loans, and the interest rate on said loans tends to be lower. otherwise a high valuation is mostly beneficial to the shareholders.

but generally, you have it backwards. a company that is suspected to not do well, not be able to pay their wages, not innovating and so on will drop in value.
