No one was ever able to explain to me how metals could help you in a recession, collapse, conflict, whatever business as usual disruption. What's the concrete use case? Let's say it's a terrible financial collapse, people dying of hunger and such. What do you do with your metals? You can't eat them. Trade them? You'll likely trade a whole gold ingot for a can of beans, if you don't simply get beaten to death so they can loot your corpse. That is if the government doesn't simply take them from you at gunpoint.

You can't eat gold and unless you're a crime lord with gunmen protecting you, you cannot trade metals in a safe and profitable way. Explain.
