Under current IRS rules, all tuition and education-related fees are tax-deductible, up to $4,000. This includes tuitions or fees paid for yourself, your spouse, or a dependent.

Depending on where you live, college students or parents might also get a tax break when buying college textbooks.

The student loan interest tax deduction can lower your taxable income by as much as $2,500. Therefore, this can reduce your tax liability by as much as $625.

As for gas thats a no unless you work on campus.

You can do all that as long as you drive for work. I already mentioned gas and shit, but yeah You can't deduct general costs, such as insurance, general maintenance, registration fees or new tires UNLESS the car is used exclusively for work. I mean you can, but if your audited.
