thats how original lasers worked.
>a light source
>2 mirrors
>one mirror slightly less reflective.
>the light bounces back and forth stimulating more light from the source
>until a beam is emitted

newer lasers are just a diode (but high end lasers still use stimulated emission aka)
"light amplification stimulated emission radiation"
