Start with a simple site. 2-3 products. Spam on FB and afterwards buy some ads.

My ad experience isn't too strong, so take that with a grain of salt but my reasoning is a wait and see approach. If you're getting dog moms to bite on FB start expanding products, FB ads, then google, etc.

Ads are zero sum and painful if you're not pulling a sale from a click. say for instance you have an ad budget of a $100 per week, $10 per click (10 potential clicks). Say someone clicks on your add (-$10) but DOESN'T buy your stuff. Well you're out 10 bucks and not getting it back. So when I recommend it ads, usually at a point where you're already pulling in sales through normal organic traffic. Use ads to amplify your reach not as a crutch. (***I'm not an ad expert however, SEO is my domain of expertise)
