We used tens of thousands of tonnes of copper a year, about half of that is recycled from old tech or infrastructure, however we're going to be needing more and more copper for "green" energy projects and consumer goods, but only 14 new mines have opened to meet demand. Copper will become one of the metals we outstrip production on within 10 years.
