These Hawaiian shield volcanoes are NBD usually, they make a bunch of runny lava and burn a few small towns.
Not much ash usually.

A volcano event with a lot of ash could mean short term lower temperatures, would be bullish for energy.
But you typically need a large explosive eruption for that, IE; thick lava from continental plate at subduction zones (ring of fire for example)
