California is a good test case for whether or not it's e-commerce or blacks that have been the death knell for malls. Because California has lost most of it's black population in the last 20 years or so. Stores in malls are going under even in areas without blacks. But in the areas where there are blacks, they're going under even faster. So it's a synergistic effect. There are still malls doing just fine in places like Palo Alto that are all White and Asian. So it's a mix of Amazon and blacks. Where I live there aren't many blacks, but the blacks we do have are often at the mall. So I don't go. But to be honest, I wouldn't go anyway. Shit is cheaper on Amazon, don't have to pay for gas, car won't get broken into. Only downside is no giant soft pretzel or Mrs Fields Cookies.
