Gold is anti-fragile to the bearishness of the market, but always at least retains its purchasing power. If people perceive that the future of the US economy is a bed of roses, then people will be more inclined to liquidate their paper/physical gold and put it into the market if they think they can make a good return in equities or bonds.

It boils down to what the market will be up to for the next 12 - 18 months. I think the combination of the COVID, hyper-scale stimulus packages/inflation, and these recent US riots will eventually provide a high probability for another crash before 2021.

Once another crash happens - once people realize that equities and even bonds are too volatile/bearish to put their fiat - gold (and silver) will moon.
