First of all, as Andre said, their is no objective neutral standard to test TPS at all. Currently their network runs at 500 tps, they pack 1 tx in event block, but they can scale that to packing 10 tx in event block on 100 tx in event block, so it can scale from 500 to 50.000, but there's no purpose of scaling it, since that much isn't used. But also, even if opera network couldn't scale at all, does it really matter, if the thing can simply scale by launching another network/networks? Since that is the case it can really scale infinitive amount. now they've got 2 networks, xar is running at 20.000 tps, opera runs with 500, so it's at 20500 atm, if they push xar to 50.000, you've got 70.000, if they throw out another opera and push it to 50k, you've got 130k, if they launch 10 opera networks, you've got 500k. Each dapp can have it's own network too. So does the tps mean anything at all at this point? Finality is crazy fast, theoretically they can turn a 25 million city into smart city, with one network dealing with traffic lights, one network dealing with data for temperature regulation, one network controling garbage levels, one network preserving medical records, one dealing with financial transactions, one network connecting the networks for data sharing and so on.

No one either knows what tps visa has, there's bunch of different numbers floating around what tps visa can handle, who the fuck really cares what's the number, everyone just care that when give the credit card to cashier, that they don't need to wait there for a long time. No one gives a shit if they've got a supercomputer handling that, 1 network or 10 networks to process that. And in this case, fantom can compete with speed of finality with visa. Why would any consumer care if it takes 1 network or 10 networks working in the background to get his transaction processed.
