>then i would assume they would touch into a xrp-pool from ripplelabs? how does this drive buying pressure on shitcoinexchanges?

xRapid is Ripple's XRP settlement product and it just coordinates buying and selling across a wide range of exchanges.

If a Financial Institution in Mexico wants to make a settlement with an FI in South Africa they buy XRP using MXN (pesos) locally on a local exchange, then move the XRP in 4s to an exchange in South Africa, then they sell on that local exchange there for SAR (rand). Finally the SAR is transferred on a domestic rail to the target FI.

Domestic rails are good/fast for making settlements because all the banks have reserve accounts with the reserve bank. International settlement is hard, that's the problem XRP solves.
