People change other currencies to doge, this makes other currencies drop a little bit and makes doge be worth more, couple this with the fact that it can be used to buy stuff and people start buying it more because they get more bang for their buck out of it if they're early to the party because more people flodding in makes the value of the coin increase even more, it's a cycle.

There is not an unlimited supply, ,like all currencies, it has to make a few new coins because of inflation but the rate of inflation in doge is constant (they don't produce more coins with time like with the usd). It has a purpose now because you can buy stuff with it but the original idea was that people just had faith it would end up being accepted as currency and that in and of itself willed the use of doge to buy stuff into existence.

Yes, you can at the very least get your original investment and 50% of what you bought in for.
