USD goes a lot farther there. I never spend more than $200 per month on necessities for myself + wife and 2 keeds. In rural Russia you can grow food barter with neighbors. Utilities are like $2 per month, but I also hooked up alternatives. Unlimited 4G LTE for like $6 per month on MTS. A 2nd hand toyota and a lada niva for like $500. Gas is like $1.50 / gallon.

As for transferring money, I had set up the channels for big crypto to bank transactions, but I've been just withdrawing ruble cash at ATMs while there and depositing straight into russian accounts. I am definitely keeping some funds between RF and USA just to be safe.

Most of them still have not dripped interest rates from 4.5%. They have regular wage growth instead of cost-push inflation. I assume like everything they are copying the west but are 20 years behind, but that gives them a chance to skip the mistakes we make. Like how they all skipped copper and went straight to fiber.

Doing this right now, but in Siberia. Already got the property. Living there 6 months per year on the multi-entry tourist visa. Now they all got cut, so plan B is going to have to be options selling from my US brokerage accounts, and a few more years of wage-slaving...
