It's much more difficult and random based than people even realize to gamble on a penny stock. Because, not only you have to pick the right pennys out of thousands, you would have had held thru out many 80-90%% (like amazon stock etc.) down turns and never sold at large profits(making you able to retire billionaire), waiting for even larger profits. Like what for example sir buffet exactly did 50 years straight. In general, these is handful of people among millions of investors who are succesful in these kind of schemes, whether they are lucky or skilled, who knows.

unironically vertical climbing faang was one of the major triggers for these selloff. there was something very weird in faang rise tho. some might claim not totally "natural" market behavior :)

Nasdaq struggled but kept green day. Fangover continues. Only apple with real products keep on, while air is coming of social media

Depends on taxes where you live. In europe where there are capital gains taxes anywhere between 20 to 50% it's questionable. Mainly just source of parking not generating much. If you have past 100 years dow jones annual 5% inflation adjusted and take 30% away it will be 2-3% annually. Sooo.....Just Wont make you rich probably but better than many other options. Then you could have also dollar rising etc. yen rising to euro or gbp which would give you better returns but it will require skill most people invest domestically. Too much so.

quite an amusing thread. this guy thinks nobody beats the market because fama's study done during vietnam war era speaks for that or something. then he tells you'd have to be a acccountant master to pick stocks. oh my god.

yes indexing is a good if you literally have no idea what you are doing and stock picking based on fundamentals isnt necessarily a vice thing to do as you are going often have too little diverse for a buy and hold strat that way.

there are several studies showing even the basic timing strats beat the buy and hold indexing both in absolute terms and risk adjusted terms.

and that is only the investing side. the trading side is a complete another game. you have to see it to believe it i guess

Yes the system is very different in states. In europe you have income tax rate and the capital gain tax rate which is usually flat, or so that you have flat rate on over a 50k annual you have a different flat. like 29-33%.

In usa futures trading is very popular as they have different tax structure and it often comes much cheaper for professional traders to trade futures only
